The most beautiful hiking trails
Around Reith im Alpbachtal
We are surrounded by wonderful hiking areas – from the Rofan and the Brandenberg Alps to the Kitzbühel Alps:
- Reither Kogel – our family mountain with an adventure loop trail and beautiful views
- Wiedersbergerhorn – sunrise hikes with the first rays of the day
- Nature gorges – Kaiserklamm and Tiefenbachklamm in Brandenberg, plus Kundler Klamm
- Tyrolean Eagle Walk – stages through Kramsach and Brandenberg
Around Achenkirch at Lake Achensee
Between Karwendel and Rofan, more than 500 km of marked hiking trails await:
- Rofan cable car & Erfurter Hütte – an easy starting point for the Rofan peaks
- Gaisalmsteig – lakeside hike from Achenkirch to Gaisalm, Tyrol’s only alpine hut with its own boat landing
- Dalfaz waterfall – an easy destination with a wide panorama over the lake
- Karwendel valleys near Pertisau – car-free alpine pasture hikes, for example to Gramaialm
- Seekarspitze & Seebergspitze – scenic summit tours directly above Lake Achensee
Wiedersbergerhorn & Reither Kogel
Our home mountains in Alpbachtal
These two family mountains are right on the doorstep of Chalet Alpenglück:
- Reither Kogel – relaxed adventure loop trail with views across the Inn Valley
- Wiedersbergerhorn – panorama trail and summit cross, easily reached by cable car from Alpbach
- Sunrise rides – experience the first rays of sunshine on the summit in summer
- Lauserland & Lauser Sauser – right at the mountain station
Nature gorges
Hiking by wild water
Three wildly romantic gorges are almost on your doorstep – easy to walk and wonderfully cool on hot days:
- Kaiserklamm – in Brandenberg, named after Emperor Franz Joseph
- Tiefenbachklamm – between Kramsach and Brandenberg, with roaring white water
- Kundler Klamm – one of Tyrol’s most beautiful natural gorges, also suitable with a stroller
Gaisalmsteig & Gaisalm
The classic at Lake Achensee
The most beautiful lakeside hike at Lake Achensee – directly from Achenkirch:
- Route: along the western shore from Achenkirch to Pertisau, with Gaisalm roughly halfway
- Refreshments: Gaisalm is Tyrol’s only alpine hut with its own boat landing
- Tip: hike one way and return comfortably by boat
- Good to know: some rocky passages – sturdy shoes and sure-footedness recommended
Rofan: Dalfaz Alm & Erfurter Hütte
High above Lake Achensee
The Rofan mountains are a hiking paradise directly above the lake:
- Rofan cable car – comfortably from Maurach up to Erfurter Hütte
- Dalfaz Alm – scenic alpine pasture hike, passing Dalfaz waterfall along the way
- For experienced hikers: starting point of the 5-summit via ferrata
- Thrill: the “Airrofan” skyglider at the mountain station

Juppi’s Magic Forest starts right at the mountain station of the Reitherkogelbahn – an adventure loop trail for children.

Summer coaster in Alpbach, Tyrol
Alpbachtal Lauser Sauser
The “Alpbachtaler Lauser Sauser” at Wiedersbergerhorn is fun for the whole family – not just for younger holiday guests.
You can “whizz” down the approx. 1,420 m long track at up to 42 km/h – in summer as well as in winter.

Lake Achensee – Tyrol’s largest lake
Tyrol’s sea
Lake Achensee is Tyrol’s largest lake – turquoise water framed by Karwendel and Rofan, just a few minutes’ walk from Chalet Hoamatl.

- Water quality: drinking-water quality
- Water temperature: refreshing 18–20 °C in midsummer
- Swimming: bathing spots and lakeside beaches around the lake, including directly in Achenkirch
